KLM Engagement Index

KLM Engagement Index
KLM Engagement Index

KLM uses the Engagement Index to measure how connected people feel to KLM as well as how they are feeling. The index looks at different aspects, such as how satisfied KLM employees are, how motivated they are, and how well they identify with KLM.

We previously asked the question ''To what extent do you recommend KLM as an employer?'' (the Employee Promoter score). However, this question doesn't provide sufficient insight into employee engagement. In addition to the Employee promoter score question, we are now adding three more. Together, these four questions make up the Engagement Index and provide a more complete picture of engagement.

Components Engagement Index

The Engagement Index consists of four set questions.

  1. I am proud to work for KLM
  2. In general, I am happy in my work
  3. I would recommend KLM as a good place to work (Employee Promoter Score)
  4. I am motivated to perform above expectations in my role

How is the Engagement Index calculated?

The Engagement Index is calculated as the average of positive scores in percentages of the above four questions. By 'positive score' we mean people who agree or strongly agree with this statement.

Engagement Index in surveys

In both the KLM Employee Survey sent out once every two years and the six-monthly KLM Connect, the Engagement Index is used as a benchmark. KLM believes it is important to keep a finger on the pulse when it comes to employee engagement in order to (continue to) work together and to improve and retain engaged employees.
