KLM People Transformation - Human Resources
KLM People Transformation en People Promises

Within KLM, we are working hard to realise our vision and strategy. Central to this is our ambition to be a great airline for our customers as well as for all our employees.
With the challenges ahead of us and the complex operations we achieve together every day, we're asking a lot of all our colleagues. It’s therefore essential that we have the right people, talents and skills on board and that we offer our people the leadership that enables them to work at their best. In our Frontrunners Journey, ‘Engage our People’ is a key goal.
Our people are essential; they set us apart from our competitors. With the People Transformation, we give substance to our ambition to be the best possible employer for our people, to offer every KLM employee a culture in which you can achieve your full potential. Whether you work in the office, in operations or in the air.
People Promises
To make our People Transformation a reality, People Promises have been drawn up. These are promises we as KLM strive to achieve every day in our mission to be the best possible employer and to establish the optimal culture.
These promises weren’t just pulled out of a hat. We gathered and analysed data from the past few years that reflects our colleagues' engagement. From that data, we identified the key challenges that KLM employees face regarding our culture—obstacles they encounter, common frustrations, and factors that prevent them from reaching their full potential during their time at KLM.
We then transformed these challenges into actionable promises—commitments we aim to fulfil for every KLM employee. However, we recognise that delivering on these promises doesn't mean applying the same solutions everywhere. Different areas may require different improvements. What might be a significant barrier in one part of the business or for a specific group may have little to no impact elsewhere.
Promises are never truly "finished." We work hard every day to fulfil them, constantly striving for improvement. By taking concrete and intentional steps, we make it clear where the improvements are and what benefits you, as a colleague, can expect. The People Promises will guide our path for the coming years, setting direction and priorities as we evolve in terms of culture and employment practices.
You can count on KLM to keep taking these steps—recent examples are listed at the bottom of this text—and you’re also encouraged to contribute
